Certification Program

Application deadline for the Fall class (starting in October 2018) is
August 1st, 2018. 

We are delighted to offer you the opportunity to become certified in the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) approach. Below is a detailed outline of the specific requirements for the Certification Program.

Prerequisites: All applicants must have attended Intro Training, Tier 1 Training and Tier 2 Training within the last three years to be considered for the Certification Program.

Application Deadlines by Cohort

  • Spring Cohort Deadline: December 1st
    Group Supervision starts in February
  • Summer Cohort Deadline: April 1st
    Group Supervisions starts in June
  • Fall Cohort Deadline: August 1st
    Group Supervision starts in October

If accepted into the program, participants receive intensive training that includes both group and individual supervision, as well as individualized written and verbal feedback. Our aim is to help individuals move through the certification program within one-year.

Please Note: You will go through the CPS Certification Program via an online program called The CPS Hub. Once you apply, you will be prompted to create an account. The username and password you set will be the same as you go through the process. To apply, click here.

Please create an account. If you do not receive an email to activate your account, please email thinkkidscertification@partners.org immediately, as we can manually activate your account for you.

Important: Think:Kids will not review submissions until all supporting documentation has been submitted.

CPS Certification Program Application

Non refundable application fee: $150 USD

Applications must include:

  • A complete Application Form
  • A recording of you conducting a full Plan B conversation with an individual with lagging thinking skills
  • A complete CPS APT
  • A complete Plan B Worksheet
  • A signed Consent Form
  • A completed Self-Assessment Form

All required materials will be provided to you via the CPS Hub.

Once accepted, all participants must complete the following steps of the certification program to become CPS Certified.

CPS Certification Program Steps

Once accepted, there is a tuition fee of $1,400 USD.

Please submit payment for your tuition fee via Bank of America’s PayEezy or via check. If paying by check, please email thinkkidscertification@partners.org for additional information.

Below are the steps of the CPS Certification Program:

  1. Participating via web in 14-16 weekly group supervision sessions (verbal feedback about areas to strengthen will be given on the calls) Number of sessions is determined by size of group.
  2. Submitting at least three (3) recordings of a Plan B conversation (written feedback needs to be received for each recording prior to the next submission).
    Please note: Pending participants’ individual progress, members of the Certification Team may request additional recordings to ensure fidelity to the CPS model.

    • Recordings must be actual Plan B conversation with a child or adult who is identified as the client
    • The following should be completed with each recording:
      1. Self-Assessment
      2. Plan B Prep Sheet
      3. CPS APT
      4. Consent form

The video files must be sent in one of the following formats: .mp4, .mov, .flv, .m4v, .f4v.  Please note: Other file formats will not be accepted.

  1. Completing at least two (2) 1:1 Live Coaching Calls (verbal feedback about areas to strengthen will be given at the end of each call)
  2. Completing a Quiz which we will send to you once the above three steps have been completed.

After successfully completing these steps, participants are CPS Certified!

Being CPS Certified you will receive:

  1. CPS Parent Group Curriculum (including videos)
  2. Recognition on the Think:Kids website with your name, credentials, and contact information
  3. A Certificate of Completion
  4. Outreach/Marketing Support
  5. Opportunity to apply for the CPS Certified Trainer Program

IMPORTANT: It is expected that you will finalize the certification process within three months of the last group supervision session (unless communicated otherwise by your Instructor).

There is an administrative fee of $150 to extend the deadline for completion. 

Required Annual Recertification for CPS Certified Members

CPS Certified Annual Recertification Fee: $1,250 USD

CPS Certification Trainer Program

Are you CPS Certified and interested in training others in the CPS approach?
Prerequisites: All applicants must have successfully completed the Certification Program.

CPS Trainer Certification Program Application

Non refundable application fee: $150 USD

The application to become a CPS Certified Trainer involves conducting and recording a Two Hour Training using our training materials and then submitting this recording, as well as audience evaluations, for review.

Please submit the online application form by clicking the button below. Doing so will redirect you to the CPS Hub. Once you have created a user account in the CPS Hub you will have access to the Training Materials needed to complete your Trainer Application. These materials are to be use for your application only.

If you are creating an account in the CPS Hub for the first time and do not receive an email to activate your account, please email thinkkidscertification@partners.org immediately, as we can manually acivate your account for you.
**If you went through the Certification Program in the CPS Hub, do not create a new account for the Trainer Program – use the same username and password.

REMINDER: You must be CPS Certified before you can apply to the Trainer Certification Program.

REMINDER: Maintaining your CPS Certified status by keeping up-to-date with Recertification Requirements + Expectations is REQUIRED while you are pursuing CPS Certified Trainer status.

CPS Certification Trainer Program Steps

Below is an overview of the steps of the CPS Certification Trainer Program, upon acceptance:

  1. Participating in a 1:1 Coaching Calls with a CPS Instructor
  2. Viewing video clips of CPS Certified Trainers as model
  3. Conducting a series of trainings to be recorded for review and feedback
    Trainings can include 2Hr Introductory Trainings, Tier 1 Assists, Solo Full or Half Day Trainings, etc.
  4. Conducting a series of training prep activities

As a CPS Certified Trainer, you will receive:

  1. Training Slide Decks & Supporting Documentation
    1. 2-Hour Introduction
    2. Half Day Introduction
    3. Full Day Introduction
    4. Tier 1 Intensive
  2. Training Videos
  3. Recognition on the Think:Kids website with your name, credentials, and contact information.
  4. Marketing and Outreach Support
  5. A Certificate of Completion

NOTE: Training materials and decks are to be used solely to complete certification requirements and steps and should not be shared, used, or replicated for other training purposes. Misuse of training materials could impact certification eligibility and completion of the program.

Annual Recertification for CPS Certified Trainers

CPS Certified Trainer Annual Recertification Fee: $1,800 USD
